THE owners of a popular city-centre restaurant have announced they will be leaving to start a new venture abroad.
Kate Page and Matthew Sanderson, who have been running Friar Street Kitchen in Worcester for the past seven years, have said it is time for them to take on a new challenge.
They have wished the new restaurant's owners of the business every success in the future.
In a post to customers on Facebook, Ms Page said: "After seven years of Friar Street Kitchen it's time for us to move on as we plan for a new business venture overseas.
"We just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you our valued customers, friends, family, neighbours, suppliers and staff for your unrivalled support over the years, we couldn’t have done it without you and we’re so lucky to have you all.
"We have nothing but positive memories of Friar Street Kitchen and have held some truly memorable and special occasions here over the years.
"We wish the new owners every success in such a beautiful little space, please make time to support them as much as you have us, the independent scene needs you now more than ever.
Their final day at the traditional British restaurant will be on Sunday, May 26.
Ms Page, aged 38, added: "It's lovely to leave it on a high".
"It's time for us to move on to a new challenge.
"People have reached out and shared their lovely memories".
Customers shared messages of support for the business owners on Facebook.
Paula Knight said: "Great news for you guys but you will be missed by your customers."
Emily Anderson said: "Wishing you guys all the best. You will totally smash your new venture."
Lucy Martin added: "One of my absolute favourites. You will be so missed."
Friar Street Kitchen has a coveted five stars on review website TripAdvisor with customers praising the Sunday lunches, service and quality of the food.
One reviewer called it the 'best Sunday lunch I have ever eaten' while another rated it '5 star for quality, service , price and dining experience'.
